Baltic - LT/LV/EE

In 2004 SNB-REACT started its activities in Latvia. March 2005, SNB-REACT started its activities in Lithuania followed by establishment of close working relations with Estonian customs and Police.  On 1 January 2006, we merged all activities in the Baltic States and coordination and management is now done from the Lithuanian office.

The objective of our operations in the Baltics  is
- to follow up customs actions, assist them with all practical issues related to the border measures;
- to follow up actions of police and other law enforcement agencies by providing them with technical expertise and support during investigations;
- to initiate legal actions against infringers through criminal, administrative or civil procedures.

Customs enforcement in The Baltic States is pretty simple; the simplified procedure in the EU Regulation of article 11 is being applied. This means that through quick settlements cases can be resolved easily. For storage and destruction of goods, the enforcement authorities often request the support from rights owners. SNB-REACT is supporting its members in this respect

The police actions have come off the ground in Lithuania in 2006; police actions in Latvia is a common practice and cooperation is good.
